Agreement covers 12 projects across seven African countries as Dangote targets 80 million metric tonnes annual production by 2030.
STORY
Africa’s largest cement producer, Dangote Cement Plc, has signed strategic agreements worth more than US$1 billion with Sinoma International Engineering of China to execute 12 construction, expansion, and modernization projects across Africa.
The agreements were formally signed by Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Group, and Lin Zhong, Chairman of Sinoma International Engineering.
According to Dangote Cement, the investment forms part of the company’s long-term industrial expansion strategy aimed at increasing total cement production capacity to 80 million metric tonnes per annum by 2030.
The projects will strengthen cement manufacturing across several African markets, support infrastructure development, create employment opportunities, and reinforce regional industrial growth.
One component of the expansion includes increasing production capacity at selected plants, including plans that would double output at the Itori Cement Plant in Ogun State from 6 million to 12 million metric tonnes annually.
