Nigeria recorded another significant milestone in its healthcare sector as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially commissioned the Lagos Vaccine Hub (Cold & Dry Store) located at the Federal Central Medical Stores, Oshodi, Lagos.
The commissioning ceremony, held on May 29, 2026, brought together key stakeholders from the health sector, government agencies, and development partners committed to improving healthcare delivery across the country.
The Lagos Vaccine Hub is designed to serve as a central storage and distribution facility for vaccines and other essential medical supplies. Equipped with modern cold-chain infrastructure, the facility will help ensure that vaccines are stored under optimal conditions before being distributed to healthcare centers nationwide.
Speaking during the commissioning, the project was described as a major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s immunization system, improving vaccine accessibility, and enhancing the country’s capacity to respond to public health challenges. The facility is expected to play a critical role in supporting routine immunization programs and safeguarding millions of Nigerians from preventable diseases.
